What does anon think of my digital painting of the adf-01 falken from ace combat 5? still a wip though, i've already identified areas that need correction.

>> No.5920

I'm not an artist, so maybe I can't tell you what's rrong with it, but it looks awesome from what I see of it.

>> No.5921

>>5919
yeah. lots of them

1.)forward canards are small and align in the wrong angle
2.the cockpit's nose is too short and not rounded like the nose of the Su-34
3.)tail rudders are too close and too long
4.)air intakes are not aligned well against the afterburners
5.)right wing is too long compared to the left
6.)afterburners are very small
7.)the falken looks like it has a long tail from this viewpoint perspective, which in reality has just a pair of air breaks, the aircrafts engine is supposed to be longer than the tail

overall, the poor perspective of the drawing ruins the anatomy of the airplane, try practicing perspective and volume, study the object your about to draw from all angles

>> No.5923

Thanks for pointing these problems out, when I first started this drawing I did not have good views of the plane to work with, just the ac5 wallpaper, and my ps2 is at home so i couldnt rotate the plane in game. As I said, some things I automatically found wrong, but I appreciate you finding more than what I thought. Points 2,3, and 7.

>> No.5924

>>5923
yes, you can rotate the FALKEN in the game, there is an option in the hangar menu that allows you to view it 360 degrees around, or if your still having a hard time drawing it, find a scaled down model of it in a toy store or buy it, and sketch all sides of it, top, left side, right side, rear , and front, and then play around with the sketches for a perspective you want

Seriously you gotta do something about your anatomical quirks. You got nice stuff, but it's kind of dragged into the mud by some issues. It could be much better

And stop it with the limb/hand-hiding for pete's sake!

here some points you should remember:
1.study anatomy, perspective, depth, and almost anything that has to do with modern art
2.relax your arms and hands, its the one thing that's gonna give you a hard time to draw, learn to control you grip on the pencil, pen, WACOM pen, or whatever tools of art your using
3.get some critics from other artist you know or meet, they can help you learn even more better for they will teach you some pros and cons on artworks
4.bad critics, you can't get rid of them, just don't let get to you, just do a s you like
5.PRACTICE, never forget that word, talent alone would not do, to get the skills you want, you need to train and work hard for it

This is cute enough, and a good start if you want to draw anime. However, try looking at the muscles in the legs. They have more shape than how you drew them. Also, boobies do not come straigt out of your armpits. Both of these are problems I've had before, which is why I was able to notice them.
Anyway, KEEP AT IT! Listen to crit, and study anatomy some, then apply it to your art. I can practically guarentee you'll get better.

It's nice to hear you appriciate honest feedback, really gives me hope for you as an artist.
And it's quite ironic, yeah; the teachers at your school care more about being nice than teaching you shit. They're too afraid of disapproval to be useful, whereas we, who don't give a shit can tell you what you need to hear, making us your new best friends.

But again, don't make an effort to bring us finished work in particular, better you squeeze in time for sketching because a sketch is the foundation upon which you build the entire picture; If the sketch is shit, everything is shit.
As I said, sketches gives us more to work with; it tells a more honest story about what you need to improve, and what you need to change.
I don't feel I had so much to say about the original picture ITT, it's like finished and shit. But the one in >>5840 had more to offer.

I like this one.
A few things:
-Your style is kind of enlongated, try to make your characters a bit more compact, both face and body and see how you like it.
-Your faces are a bit flat, which comes to life especially when you draw them at an angle. You need to adjust the features properly to match.
-You still clean your sketches too much, I wanna see some structure lines, less polish. The idea here isn't to give each little piece its own finish, you wanna make a lot of shit in a condensed period of time and see how you progress and adjust.
-Mix styles on the same sheet, so you can compare, draw conclusions, try new things and adjust things, cross-referentially. That's probably not even a word, but perhaps you get what I mean.
-Try breaking your style apart and build it up from scratch, even if it's just on one paper, for the sake of experimenting. Let us see what happens. In any case you don't need to stick with what you do, but you'll always learn from it.

First of all its "ninja" even in the plural. And yes, they DID exist (they don't any more), though not in the "lolmagix" way just about every cartoon shows 'em as.
Second, anything flashy would be a bad idea. You're running and dodging and hiding--why the hell would you (a) want loose hair to begin with or (b) want to wear something flashy that can be seen in the shadows? Or something that (c) could potentially define who you are or where you are from?

I don't mind Naruto character designs--safely stuck in Naruto. Those design conventions work perfectly well given the story and author's interpretation. Unfortunately, your designs don't look like there is any reason your characters should look the way they do--they are all just either FF or Naruto rips, and that is a bad thing.

I'm all for learning by doing fanart or taking some conventions. But you can't excuse the fact that your designs right now are a wee bit stolen.

>> No.5788

>>5787
First of all I'm not OP

It isn't ninja either, it's shinobi no mono, ninja is a edo period conception applied specifically for the idea of "shinobi" ever being organized groups specializing specifically in clandestine arts.

The reason all ninja-legends come from Kaga and Iga is because during the sengoku jidai these areas were out of official shogunal control for extended periods. They became safe havens for all sorts of outlaws and people trying to get away from organized society. Such groups have always been contracted for illegal activities but there were none or very few organizations specializing in the area.

And if there were, they were nothing but minor clans of regular conformity or bands of outlaws, accepting work as outside agents. They didn't refer to themselves as ninja, nor shinobi no mono for that matter. It would be those who suffered their activities who would call them that, because shinobi no mono simply refers to anyone who does anything "stealthy". So anyone who did anything in that direction would be a "shinobi", even if it was a courtesan relaying the bedchamber whispers of her lover to his enemies.
