In Gunbuster, we discover that the space monsters were akin to the universe's antibodies. Humans were being problematic by discovering space travel, so the space monsters were dispatched to take care of the humans. Noriko of course, took care of them. It is in Gunbuster is where we start hearing the stuff about determination, and guts, both of which are the bases for spiral power. Continues in next post
In Diebuster, we find that humans have shut themselves away in the solar system, no longer reaching amongst the stars. Not only that, but buster machines are only pilotable by a select few, the Topless. We later find out that the topless are actually evolved humans that are psychically identical to the space monsters. This means that humanity was evolving to bacome the next antivirus of the galaxy. Evolution is an effect of spiral power, which flowed through humans because of their guts and determination. The humans of the Diebuster era, became the first spiral knights, to prevent the space monsters from returning. Continues in next post
