I just got done watching 'only yesterday', and i was stunned at how good a film it was, yet i never see any art for it, or hear anything about it for that matter. does anyone have any nice art for it?
It's great, one of my favorite Ghibli films, but sadly Disney refuses to localize it and bring it to the states. >>1096Is that from one of the Ghibli calendars?

>>1137Sadly? I say, hooray! for being spared anothed horrible dubbing. We fans can always import.
>>1138 Heh. Well, I also say good riddance to dubs, but Disney has been pretty good about putting the original Japanese soundtracks on the DVD releases. But then again, I did import my copy so I should shut up. XD

It's out in the UK, no dub though, for some reason (guess without US sales, they didn't think it was worth doing)
i didn't really understand the whole storyline:S but i did watch it like a year ago. She was talking about stuff that happened to her at school and kept recalling stories and then decided to live in the country? could somebdoy please explain something that i'm missing:(
What does Disney have against Only Yesterday anyway? The didn't have any problem with bringing Pom Poko over.
It mentions periods? Only remotely objectionable thing I can think of in it. 'I Can hear the Waves' seems to have disappeared as well, without even a UK release.

They've played it on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) channel in the US a few times, both dubbed and subbed. So it's ready, I think the problem is that it just doesn't have enough draw to become a DVD release. It's not really a movie kids would get, ya know?
>>1386Yeah, the fact that it's actually aimed more at an older audience is likely a bigger problem. They probably have no idea have to market it.
Does anyone have decent stills from Portable Airport? It's great to see studio Ghibli diversify into this fashionable, contemporary stuff. Unfortunately the only images I can get are lousy youtube screencaps.
Google image search leads us to rhetorical noise, where I found these 3.
I like how the tone of this series changes from light to serious and back again.
Unfortunately I just stumbled across these on youtube, and I know almost nothing about them except that they're made by a subsidiary of Ghibli. I haven't seen any figurines or promotional stills or any other merch.Cute story though.

There's a website for the artist, which I have misplaced, but it only has small images. There is a large gallery here: http://gallery.aethereality.net/list/artist/89which is where I got 'em. :)

>>1233>>1255Looks like 'Hansu no Kikkan' fanart. A short manga made by Miyazaki set in Germany at the end of WWII.
Otto Carius ~
>>1233 It's obviously not Miyazaki's art.The coloring style is totally different.
>>1195 I think this is a fan fiction of Lupan the Third picture which Miyazaki's first major director work.
>>1257 Could you post a source?
looks like it's related to porco rosso, or at least an earlier idea incarnation of it. though the movie is set right before the rise of italian fascism, the concept art had tons of war machines and mostly pigs as characters.
>>1369One pig. Just one. Porco Rosso. No other pigs were involved or harmed during the making of this movie. XDAlthough the pirates certainly behaved like pigs, they were normal humans. Only Porco Rosso was a pig. And why? Let's not spoil the fun of watching the movie just yet. Anonymouse rests.

Also bumping for source.
The characters look like they're from Lupin The 3rd (second series) episode #155. The scene doesn't match anything in the episode, though, so it may be a discarded storyboard image or doodle that was later colored.
I think this is a cross-over. Hayao made one Lupin the 3rd movie, right? But why he picked up Nausicaa? I don't know. It could be because Nausicca was his first movie for his own company.

Why not a thread of... something. Main characters, hotties, whatever. This board is sadly slow.
