Hello gents. The idea was floated in #iichan that we should work out a way to embed a player on the board, so that people who can't figure out what the hell a tracker is, or how modplug works, or tell their ass from a hole in the ground, can still listen to some ROCKIN TUNEZ. So, I'm soliciting suggestions for ways to make this work. Obviously, I'd like something that can play the whole host of obscure formats that people upload; it doesn't have to be perfect, of course (I doubt that anything plays .rns files, for instance).Anyone have any ideas?

java, lol
Pipes, MP3, and bandwidth rape, lol
ask Mandrixx or get a flash player or something. There's also something used by themodarchive.org they use for playback in a popup. Might want to look into what they use.
EMBEDDED MIDI
modarchive.org uses the java package https://virtualuniverse.dev.java.net/jmod.html and Mandrixx using something he developed in-house from what I can tell, but I know fuck-all about java, and don't really have the time to learn.
Shalom there , first of all i am not a GeNT I am a Lady Elfy... ((^_^)) well tracker is a program where you can edit and create your own music via a spreadsheet like application, there may be others out there which are even easier to use. Just "google" modplug player or modplug tracker or xm player(best one for playback) to play .it, .xm .mod etc, it also can open .midi which you can edit as well, sample import differs to sound canvas or soundcard midi, most onboard audio cant import samples from midi into the tracker, but can be solved using a sound canvas file.
