"The swollen Mississippi River burst another levee Tuesday, submerging farmland and threatening a residential area whose occupants had already moved out in anticipation of a flood.

The levee failure near St. Charles comes as teams furiously fill sandbags to reinforce other waterlogged embankments guarding towns still waiting for the arrival of the huge river's flood crest.

Forecasters expect the last stretch of the bloated river to crest later this week."

"UFO spotted by police helicopter"

"A police helicopter crew has spotted what is described as an unusual aircraft in the Vale of Glamorgan."

"But three-man crew could not capture any images before the object vanished"

""But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs," the spokesperson said."

While I'm the first to admit that it's impossible for we on Earth to be the only lifeforms in the universe (certainly going by the law of probability), and it's obvious that the extraterrestrial visitors we've had are superior in intelligence - clearly having the technological nous to build galaxy-spanning craft, I call into question their sense of aesthetics. I mean, flying SAUCERS?! That's SO 1950s! Since then, our film companies' production designers have come up with spaceship designs that are VASTLY superior in every way (posted pic as a prime example).

No, until ol' E.T. can come visit us in something resembling a Romulan Valdore-class Warbird (or akin to some of the ship designs Hollywood's come up with), I'm afraid I'll refer to 'flying saucer' UFOs as IFOs: Inferior Flying Objects.

Okay, so Vista may be more like ME, but this won't stop me installing XP on my comps. Reliable, never had a BSOD (even with 2000), tons of drivers (even W2K drivers for older devices are compatible), and easy as piss to install. Can't say the same for Linsucks. Not after an experimental installation of one version (don't know which, and I don't care). I still have the mental scars. Until the developers make a version that's EASY to install as Windows (and doesn't have a steep learning curve), has as many easily available drivers as Windows, and has as much software as Windows, I'm afraid Linsucks will always have that 'geek-y' image, and Microsoft will always dominate.

Pic very related.

"A Japanese firm has produced a 38 cm (15 inch) tall robotic girlfriend that kisses on command, to go on sale in September for around $175, with a target market of lonely adult men.

Using her infrared sensors and battery power, the diminutive damsel named "EMA" puckers up for nearby human heads, entering what designers call its "love mode".

"Strong, tough and battle-ready are some of the words often associated with robots, but we wanted to break that stereotype and provide a robot that's sweet and interactive," said Minako Sakanoue, a spokeswoman for the maker, Sega Toys.

"She's very lovable and though she's not a human, she can act like a real girlfriend.""

In a September 2003 article for The Guardian newspaper, Michael Meacher, who served as Tony Blair’s environment minister from May 1997 to June 2003, shocked the establishment by calling the global war on terrorism "bogus." Even more controversially, he implied that the U.S. government either allowed 9/11 to happen, or played some role in the destruction wrought that day. Besides Meacher, few politicians have publicly questioned America’s official 9/11 narrative — until Diet member Yukihisa Fujita.

In January 2008 Fujita, a member of the Democratic Party of Japan, asked the Japanese Parliament and Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda to explain gaping holes in the official 9/11 story that various groups — including those who call themselves the "911 Truth Movement" — claim to have exposed.

Fujita, along with a growing number of individuals — including European and American politicians — are leading a charge to conduct a thorough, independent investigation of what happened on Sept. 11, 2001.

I read an article that says US government planned 9/11 or George Bush knew it was coming etc long time ago. Everyone has his theory of why 9/11 happened and it's not really my job to judge. But I don't trust internet for these. I'm just a regular average person on the planet so I won't know about the truth anyway. So, who cares?

Question EVERYTHING. But question Conspiracy Theories more so.

IMO, Conspiracy Theories exist purely because there's some sad acts with too much time on their hands. SHIT HAPPENS. And there's nothing you can do about it.

'Man didn't land on the Moon' they say. O RLY? One Word: REFLECTORS.

If one Conspiracy Theory is so fatally flawed, so are ALL of them.

Conspiracy Theorists did WTC.

>> No.7123

>>7118
No one every said the 9/11 theories were perfect, but if you want to talk about facts... the facts destroy the official version of what happened that day. There are TOO many fishy coincidences and too few explanations concerning the matter.

Watch the films. You don't have to believe every word and take it as the gospel. Just start asking some questions.

"The net could see its biggest transformation in decades if plans to open up the address system are passed.

The net's regulators will vote on Thursday to decide if the strict rules on so-called top level domain names, such as .com or .uk, can be relaxed.

If approved, it could allow companies to turn their brands into domain names while individuals could also carve out their own corner of the net.

The move could also see the launch of .xxx, after years of wrangling."

"California's governor and attorney general are asking Internet service providers to help stop the dissemination of child pornography.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. issued a press release Friday asking Internet service providers in California to follow the lead of Verizon Communications, Time Warner Cable, and Sprint in "removing child pornography from existing servers and blocking channels" that disseminate the illegal material.

"Protecting the safety of our children must be a top priority, not just for government, but also for businesses with the direct power to reduce the ability to conduct illegal activity," they said in a joint letter to the California Internet Service Provider Association. "
