"An American military supercomputer, assembled from components originally designed for video game machines, has reached a long-sought-after computing milestone by processing more than 1.026 quadrillion calculations per second."

"The new $133 million supercomputer, called Roadrunner in a reference to the state bird of New Mexico, was devised and built by engineers and scientists at IBM and Los Alamos National Laboratory, based in Los Alamos, N.M. It will be used principally to solve classified military problems to ensure that the nation's stockpile of nuclear weapons will continue to work correctly as they age. The Roadrunner will simulate the behavior of the weapons in the first fraction of a second during an explosion."

Most of our supercomputers are for checking nukes, nothing exciting here.

Turn on C-SPAN, Kucinich has introduced articles to impeach Bush.

Image unrelated.

>> No.6938

Why is he doing this just before midnight? Are there even any other congressmen around to hear him?

>> No.6939

Kucinich talked for nearly five hours, finishing 10 minutes before midnight Eastern Time. Going through 35 articles of impeachment takes time. Bush has a lot to account for but I doubt this will lead to an actual impeachment. But at least those crimes will be on the congressional record now.

He went after Cheney last year IIRC and nothing happened.

"London police have released a computer-generated image of the "Night Stalker" rapist believed responsible for hundreds of attacks going back to 1990.

The latest image was produced with the aid of a person who was among five women attacked in South London last month, The Times of London reported Monday.

Police said they believe the man is responsible for more than 100 attacks, the majority of them on women ranging in age from 68 to 93."

"Harvard University is at the centre of an academic and political scandal after three prominent members of its psychiatry department were accused of breaking conflict-of-interest rules by failing to declare millions of dollars in consulting fees from drugs manufacturers."

"The relationship between the Harvard academics and drug companies is highly controversial because their research has advocated the use of previously unapproved psychiatric medicines in children."

"AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Fire investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying who may be to blame for a blaze that badly damaged the historic Texas Governor's Mansion.

Arson is suspected in the Sunday morning fire that charred the unoccupied 152-year-old building, said state Fire Marshal Paul Maldonado. He wouldn't provide details on how the fire was set or whether there is a suspect."

"Tens of thousands of Spanish lorry drivers have begun an indefinite strike over the soaring price of diesel, which has risen by 20% this year.

After stopping work at midnight, many disrupted traffic at one of the border crossings between Spain and France.

A number of lorries crossing the picket lines had their windscreens broken, lights ripped out and tyres slashed. "

"Across Japan teachers are reporting an astonishing change in the character of parents, who, after decades of respectful silence, have become a super-aggressive army of complainers."

"Previously, when a child was in trouble the parents apologised profusely to the teacher; nowadays, they try to have the teacher sacked."

"In one case the mother of a child who was injured in the playground demanded that the child who accidentally caused the injury be suspended from school for as long as it took her son to recuperate - so that he would not benefit from the lessons her boy was missing."

Alison "thought the snapshots and home videos of her infant son were gone for good when she lost her digital camera while on vacation in Florida.

Then a funny thing happened: her camera "phoned home."

Equipped with a special memory card with wireless Internet capability, DeLauzon's camera had not only automatically sent her holiday pictures to her computer, but had even uploaded photos of the miscreants who swiped her equipment bag after she accidentally left it behind at a restaurant."

"A woman who has lived aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 for nine years is looking for a new home just like her old one, allowing her to cruise the world in comfort.

Beatrice Muller, 89, formerly a New Jersey resident, decided to stay on the QE2 after her husband died during a cruise in 1999. This November, the ship is to become a floating hotel in Dubai, and Muller has no interest in a ship that does not move"

"Muller pays about $7,000 a month to live on board"

""My sons are delighted I'm here and safe and out of their hair," she said."

i didn't know that, becoming a floating hotel must mean that the bussisness is going well and they aren't receiving enough for what they spent making this ship

and stupid bitch is stoopid, i mean for that amount of money that she spent for nine years (756k), she could've easily bought herself a boat
