"Russia's first entirely new commercial plane for decades, the Superjet 100, has completed its maiden flight.

The plane, which will be able to carry between 75 and 110 passengers, must make about 100 incident-free journeys before being deemed to be airworthy."

Patiala, India - "Researchers have found that pesticides used on crops has damaged the DNA of farmers in India, making them more susceptible to cancer."

"Scientists at India's prestigious Patiala University, Punjab state conducted the study by tracking a group of farmers for several months. They ruled out other factors such as age, alcohol and tobacco use and say their research points to exposure to pesticides as being responsible for a fundamental change in a person's DNA.

Researchers said they had found significant change in the DNA and that risk of cancer is greatly increased when the DNA damage is very high.

Crop Care Federation of India, an industry trade group insists there is no causal link between any pesticide in use now and cancer."

"OCEAN CITY, Md (Reuters) - After four decades carrying millions of New Yorkers, 44 of the city's subway cars are now home to millions of fish.

The worn-out cars were dumped on Friday into the Atlantic Ocean, 21 miles off the Maryland coast, to create an artificial reef, designed to attract fish for the state's lucrative sport-fishing industry.

"These reefs provide quality habitat for marine life off our coast which benefits not only the environment but also local businesses," said Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan."

"BAE, which denies any wrong-doing, said US officials served "a number of additional subpoenas" on employees."

AUSTRALIA'S literature classification has given the green light for photographers to take pictures of naked under-age models after backing down on an investigation into a fashion magazine.

Last week, the Classification Board said it was investigating Russh Australia for featuring a 16-year-old girl topless in two different fashion shoots.

Zippora Seven featured in the provocative 18-page editorial fashion spread alongside a 15-year-old model, Levi Clarke.

Russh justified the pictures from 45-year-old Sydney photographer Derek Henderson by using Chanel No.5 bath gel in the most revealing image.

After deliberating, Classification Board director Donald McDonald said: "The board has now considered the matter and is of the view that this publication is not a submittable publication and therefore does not need to be classified."

The most provocative of the images was shot at Sydney's Sebel Pier One Hotel in March, gratuitously depicting the pair sharing a bubble bath nude, with Seven topless and Clarke's eyes closed as if he has passed out. In the foreground are four bottles of Moet & Chandon champagne.
