"First Seinfeld Vista Ad is Out: And Makes No Sense""You might not be the only one underwhelmed by the new $300 million advertising campaign Microsoft launched last night featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates. The new ad was aired initially during the NFL kickoff game on NBC and is also available now on Windows.com. (Maybe not so ironically, the video is only playing for me in Internet Explorer - not Firefox.)In the new ad, Seinfeld finds Gates in a discount shoe shop and starts sizing up his shoe size (10). When Gates says that the shoes he was trying on are too tight, Seinfeld comes with his idea of making them looser, wondering if Bill ever tried wearing his shoes in the shower (Bill said "never"). In the end, Gates gives Seinfeld a wiggle confirming that Microsoft is going to come out "with something moist and chewy like cake." Yep, that's it... Just one reference to Microsoft and nothing else."http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/007668.html

There are epic blockbusters 2 hours long which don't take $300 million to produce. Ignoring the first commercial, the remaining two, five, ten, however many had damn well better be impressive to justify this sort of money-burning. Bottomless pockets or not, what Microsoft has done amounts to major financial irresponsibility -- and as a stock holder I would be pissed. And that's assuming the commercials were even average.
I agree, that ad didnt make eny freaken seens. But then agean its not as annoying as thous freaken Mac ads.

>>8331Good point. But given the reality of how expensive it is to purchase television commercial airtime, wouldn't you be much better off spending that $300 million in subtle "insert ads" in major motion pictures, video games, and television series? If Sony and Apple can do it, there's no reason why Microsoft can't.Basically take this commercial but 180° in reverse, with the advertisement hidden inside the show rather than the show used to produce the ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V70bLAPevMc
