See, carpetbanning really works wonders. I've been doing so using good old htaccess, and knowing the full range of the IP addresses (ie. deny from 86.27.) before banning it.
So far, I've been only getting those problems once in a while, unlike before, where I get them daily.
All of those spams lead to one Ukranian website: infostore dot org.
Anyone want to give a try in shutting down infostore?

Acutally I am using a link follower on my boards. Basically it just wget's the page and runs the resulting text against the spam checker with a different file that just has a couple entries in it.
Haven't seen one single infostore or vip-zona spam post, or any of those byethost* CP/CM galleries, since I added it. They're posting that crap all over the rest of iichan though...

Whoever is spamming my site is getting really frustrated and really angry. All my boards have been spammed, and even twice, no less by the same hotliza link that leads to their infostore cp site. It used to be just my high-traffic sites that gets spam, now each site I have has been spammed now.
Based on observation, it will take at least 3-4 days before another ip with exploits appear for their use. And from experience, sniffing for exploitable IPs is not easy, especially when I ban by range now. Hoho.

I'm accessing IRC using the web applet mibbit. It automatically parses URLs in conversations. Someone linked me to an image, and i'm guessing the board thought it getting hotlinked. Happens to me all the time on there.
